Storms, for me, have always been this perplexing, awesome phenomena. Earth letting off a few burps after a long day, why not? They're gods and they're devils, Dionysus with the bolt of Zeus for a day, and certainly a fun thing to shoot. I've taken it upon myself to do so for a few years now. Why, you may ask? I've been obsessed with crazy storms ever since I was a kid in Ohio, always wanting to see what they were doing outside. A few times, the horns went off in town, the TV would be telling you in perfect 1965 Mid West English to remain in your basement. These experiences were inspiring, that this kind of power existed in the world, it almost seemed like science fiction. That is what I am trying to capture in my storm pics, that sense of awe of nature in a surreal sort of way. Abstract art made of water vapor, just have to know where to paint it.
I live in Tucson, AZ, as I have for quite a long while now. The dramatic, harsh landscape of the Sonoran Desert provides plenty of inspiration for my camera, when I'm not chasing supercells that is. Forests of cacti, trees with green bark, colorful and completely exposed rocks are just some of my favorite things to shoot. The city has been very kind to me, with good people, good food, some interesting water research opportunities, great diversity of cultures, and plenty of support for LGBTQIA+ folks, such as myself 🏳️⚧️!
Please enjoy my art and don't hesitate to say hi :)
